December 26, 2008, Newsletter Issue #214: Know where your kids are when you're in the car

Tip of the Week

When you drive into your driveway always be alert to where your children are. This is especially important if you reverse into your driveway as small children are lower then window height and not easily picked up in your mirrors. The kids will be excited that youīre home from work and may rush up to greet you. Their enthusiasm often blinds them from common sense and safety and they can be in front of / behind the car before you notice. Always drive slowly and keep your concentration alert. Turn your radio off and wind down a window so that you will have a better chance of hearing them even if you canīt see them. Ask your wife / partner to always ensure that the kids are inside before you are due to be home, but keep alert as well.
