March 17, 2006, Newsletter Issue #73: Encourage Them!

Tip of the Week

If your child is disabled, encourage them in anything they want to undertake. Itīs better to avoid saying that they canīt do something just because of their disability. Instead, find ways that they can. For example, if they are in a wheelchair and they want to play sport, encourage them to consider wheelchair basketball. There are plenty of stories of disabled people who have succeeded in doing "the impossible" simply because no one ever told them that they couldnīt do it.
